How to Get the Most Cash for Cars in Los Angeles

– brought to you by Cash For Cars

If you’re looking for cash for cars in Los Angeles then you should consider that a clean, well-kept and maintained used car will usually sell much faster, and for quite a bit more money than a dirty, unkempt vehicle in need of repairs. The tips below are intended to be a checklist of things you can do to help get the most cash for your car in Los Angeles. Some of them are things you can get right before putting the car up for sale, and others are more regular maintenance tips that should be taken care of on a regular basis. Companies that purchase used autos including Cash for Cars in Los Angeles will pay a lot more money for a car in good condition.

Belts & Hoses

Before listing your car for sale, check that all the belts and hoses bend easily and are in good shape. If anything shows signs of wear and tear or drying out, replace them immediately. While this may seem like a small detail, any prospective buyer will want to look at the engine, and will likely be put off if they see hoses or belts in bad condition.

Exhaust

California has strict laws regarding emissions. Because of this, your exhaust system needs to be in tip top condition, and if it is not, it is unlikely that you will be able to get the most cash for your car. You should inspect your exhaust system prior to putting your used car on the market. Check for loose or broken exhaust clamps and supports. Also check for holes in the exhaust pipe or the muffler. If you see any holes, rust, or broken or loose supports, then you should consider having the problems fixed before listing your vehicle for sale.

Lights

Ensure that all the lights on your vehicle are clean, and in good working order. A light bulb is usually inexpensive but a non-working light can greatly reduce how much a prospective buyer is willing to pay for a vehicle, and in many cases by more than it would cost to fix the problem.

Wiper Blades

Inspect your wiper blades every time you clean your windows, and prior to listing your car for sale. If the rubber is brittle or worn, replace the blades. Faulty wiper blades are something else that can depreciate the resale value of your vehicle by more than it would cost to replace them.

Fluids and Oil

All fluids and oil should be checked on a monthly basis. This includes transmission fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and washer fluid. If any fluids are low, add the correct type of fluid to top them off. Engine oil should be completely drained and changed every 3,000 miles or every 3 months. However, if you use synthetic oil, you can usually go longer between oil changes.

After Market Accessories

If you have any aftermarket accessories on your vehicle, such as bug guards, and light covers, etc., then you should consider leaving them on the car when you sell it. This is because they can add value to your vehicle and you will likely be able to sell it for more than you would if you removed them. It is also unlikely that the accessories will fit on your new vehicle unless you are purchasing the exact same make and model car.

Conclusion

Many of the above tips are things that you should do on a regular basis regardless of whether you are selling your car or not. However, if you are planning on selling your vehicle, following these tips will help you get the most from Cash for Cars in Los Angeles. It also shows prospective buyers that you have taken the time to keep your vehicle in good condition during the time that you have owned it, this should help you sell your car much faster than if it were in bad shape.

Selling on Your Own vs. Using Cash for Cars in San Diego

– brought to you by Cash For Cars

The most important thing to consider when selling a used car is the selling price. Of course, you want to be able to get the most cash for your car and in order to do that, you need to take a few things into consideration. Thes include how, when, and where you want to sell the car.

How Quickly Do You Want to Sell?

The resources you use to sell your car in San Diego should depend on how quickly you want to sell the vehicle. How fast you want to sell your vehicle will often also play a part in how much cash you will be able to make for your car, because some resources will cost more than others.

The quickest way to get cash for cars in San Diego is to use the Cash for Cars website. This will provide you with a fast, convenient, and easy way to sell your car, with an appraisal often only taking a few minutes. If you aren’t in a hurry to sell your car, you could list it in your local auto trader newspaper, or online on websites such as AutoTrader, Craigslist, Cars.com, and even eBay. However, most of these options will charge a fee anywhere from $25-$300 or more and can also take a percentage of the sale. They might take a long time for your vehicle to sell, especially if it has body damage, does not run, or needs work.

How Much Time & Effort do You Want to Put into Selling Your Car?

Selling a car takes both time and effort. If you do not want to spend the time detailing the car and getting it ready to sell, then dealing with marketing, taking it on test drives, negotiating price, and dealing with payment collections and paperwork, then selling a vehicle yourself is probably not a good option.

Getting a vehicle ready for sale takes a lot of time. You need to make sure that the car is clean and detailed, that all of the lights work, and that the tires are in good condition. It is also a good idea to have the car serviced with either a tune up or an oil change as that can be an additional selling point. All of these things have to be done before listing your vehicle for sale, if you want to make the most cash for your car, Cash for Cars in San Diego might be a much better option.

Determining How Much Your Car is Worth

Once you have decided how quickly you want to sell your car, how much work you want to put into making the sale, and what resources you want to use, it is time to find out roughly how much your car is actually worth. You can do this online, and there are several fantastic websites that list car values. They include Edmunds, NADAGuides, and Kelley Blue Book. You will need to enter some information about your vehicle in order to get the projected value of the car. However, remember to deduct any money you have spent getting the vehicle ready for sale and listing it on any resources, and don’t expect to be able to sell the vehicle for the exact amount listed if you sell it as a private party sale. You can also check places such as Craigslist, Auto Trader, and eBay to see what comparable cars are being sold for.

Conclusion

As you can see, selling a vehicle privately, and getting the most cash for your car takes time and effort, and there is no guarantee that your vehicle will sell quickly. Because of this, many people choose to sell their vehicles to a place such as Cash for Cars in San Diego. Doing so will often allow you to get the best value for your vehicle with the least amount of work.

If you have a used vehicle to sell and want to get the most money for your auto in the Long Beach area, you might want to consider Cash for Cars. The Long Beach Cash for Cars can help you sell your quickly and easily, and with as little stress and headaches as possible.

Quick & Simple

Selling a used vehicle to Cash for Cars in Long Beach is relatively easy. Most of the time, the entire process only takes 3 to 4 steps and you will usually receive an offer within a day or two. Because of their large network, Cash for Cars in Long Beach can also offer you the most money for your car. Despite the ease of selling your car, you also won’t be charged any fees for the process.

Getting Cash for Your Car

Cash for Cars will usually purchase any make or model vehicle, regardless of the condition, even if the car doesn’t run or has been wrecked. In fact, they will usually purchase used vehicles in almost any condition and with any mileage.

If your used car is wrecked, has very high mileage, or doesn’t run at all, it might be extremely hard to sell it on your own as most people are looking for a vehicle that they can drive away. However, Cash for Cars gives you an easy way to sell a used vehicle that is not drivable so that you don’t have to send it to a scrapyard.

How does it Work?

Getting money for your car in Long Beach using Cash for Cars is very easy. You simply give them a quick call, or use their simple form to give them some details about the vehicle. They will then give you an offer, most of the time within an hour or so. If you accept the offer, they will then come to pick up the vehicle and give you your cash.

Most of the time, the entire transaction, from contacting them with the vehicles details, to receiving your funds can be completed within 24-48 hours, although there are certain circumstances, such as geographic location that may cause the transaction to take a little longer.

What You Need to Complete the Transaction

If you accept an offer, you will have to furnish Cash for cars a copy of the title to the vehicle and your driver’s license in order for the transaction to be completed. This is to show that you are the legal owner of the vehicle and that there is no money owed on it. If you are not the owner, or don’t have a title, then a power or attorney and a copy of the owners driver’s license will normally be required.

Why Use Cash for Cars?

Some people may believe that they won’t get as much cash for their used car in Long Beach if they sell to Cash for Cars. However, because of the size of the company, they can usually make you a very competitive offer. You will also sell your vehicle quickly and easily without having to deal with placing ads, dealing with test drives, or haggling with potential customers. Because of the speed and convenience, selling your used vehicle to Cash for Cars in Long Beach is often the best choice.

Car Shopping Is Easier With These Tips – brought to you by Cash For Cars

Car shopping can be a lengthy process. There are many cars to check out and just as many options to consider. With sound advice and reliable information, the process will be much less painful. Keep reading for some smart advice about shopping for a brand-new or new-to-you car.

TIP! Have car insurance in place before you go car shopping. You need to have insurance before they will let you drive the car off the lot, so make sure to shop around for the best.

When deciding on a car, consider its fuel economy. A fuel efficient car may cost more in the beginning, but it will save you a lot of money over the life of the car. This is a huge factor to consider when thinking about your future budget.

Never buy any car without having a test drive. Even if you once had the same exact vehicle, you have to be sure that this one works just as well. The car you choose could have something wrong with it that you would be unaware of until after you have purchased the vehicle unless you test drive it first.

TIP! Make it clear to a car dealer that you have a certain budget, and you want to stick to that. This can stop them from offering you vehicles that are far more than you can afford.

If you’re getting a car from someone privately, get a mechanic you know to look at it first. If the person doesn’t want you to do that, you need to think of that as a warning. There may be extensive problems the owner is trying to hide. You don’t want to buy into these without knowing about them first.

Make your down payment on the vehicle you’re getting with your credit card. If the car lot you are dealing with goes belly up before you get the chance to retrieve your car, you can file a dispute and get a refund. If you put down cash instead, you will simply lose your money.

TIP! Understand that a lower payment does not mean the same as lowering the price of the car. It is pretty easy to get to almost any payment by reducing the interest rate and extending the terms of the loan.

A little flexibility goes a long way when looking for a new or used vehicle. Bit-name car companies should have vehicles that correspond to your needs and budget. If you want a compact car, all the lines carry at least one model. If you do some shopping by comparison, you may find a car that you like even better.

Don’t buy a new car as soon as it’s released. The cost will be higher than if you wait. In a few months the hype will have died down, and you can find one at a much better price.

TIP! Never go with the set price of a car when you’re car shopping. Usually people price things knowing that they’ll have to lower it when the buyer gets there.

Don’t let the car salesman swindle you. Sometimes, salesmen seem very friendly and that is all a part of getting you to trust them. Do not allow their friendly demeanor and nice smile cause you to make a purchase that is not in your best interest.

If you feel pressured by a salesman, don’t be afraid to ask for another one. Intimidation tactics are uncalled for and shouldn’t be tolerated. If you feel this way, you should talk to a manager, or go somewhere else.

TIP! Understand that dealerships gain a commission on financing the cars they are selling. Some dealerships will offer you a great rate, asking you to sign paperwork and then later tell you that you do not qualify for that rate.

Don’t let the salesman know if you are in immediate need for a vehicle. This is a sure sign that they may succeed by using pressure tactics. The best option is to appear incredibly patient.

Whether you are buying a new or used car, take it on a test drive on the highways and on the streets to see how it handles overall. Drive the vehicle uphill, back up, make a U-turn and park. This way, you can find out how the car responds and see if it meets your needs.

TIP! When car shopping, do not limit yourself to only new vehicles. There are many good used vehicles that still have a warranty.

Don’t avoid or rush things when you buy a car. Most car salespeople will create a sense of urgency, for instance, by telling you they have several interested buyers for the vehicle you are looking at but do not let this technique fool you. Keep in mind that the salesperson is more than likely lying. Most of the time “special promotions” will continue to be there until you’re ready to make a purchase.

As you can see, it is important to be well-informed before heading out to buy a car. The tips here are a great start. They will help turn the car shopping process into a fun one.

Did you already know we buy cars in Phoenix, but you can’t figure out why? There are many reasons a smart company would invest in buying cars from Arizona’s capital city, one of which is the diversity of inventory. Only five cities in the United States are larger than Phoenix, so when we buy cars in Phoenix we have access to thousands! Additionally, the large amount of land area Phoenix covers makes it a city of drivers – when we buy cars in Phoenix, we are buying from drivers who needed to take care of their vehicles to get them where they were going. Cash For cars makes it easy.

Previous damage is one of the top concerns when purchasing any used car. When we buy cars in Phoenix, AZ we are happy to find cars that have been well taken care of in the dry, desert climate. Tinting a car’s windows help keep the car’s interior from fading. A car with a clean grill and radiator will have a healthier engine and air conditioner than a car whose grill and radiator are full of debris. A clean, sealed paint job will help ensure the least amount of damage from wind, powerful UV rays and sand. Every time we buy cars in Phoenix, we inspect them for damage and make a fair offer. Getting cash for your car in Phoenix has never been easier.

We have found that when we buy cars in Phoenix, Arizona we rarely find cars who have been victims of water damage. Auto-buyers all over the country worry about electrical, engine and fuel supply damage caused by flooding, excessive humidity or rain but when we buy cars in Phoenix these issues are not as relevant as they are in other places. Desert climates help keep many cars rust free. We buy cars in Phoenix, AZ on a regular basis fitted with tires that have never seen snow. Phoenicians enjoy the beautiful northeastern Sonoran Desert instead of snow capped mountains, and although the Salt River has had some famous flooding, the subtropical arid climate is mostly hot and dry.

We buy cars in Phoenix, Arizona to make it easier for Phoenicians to sell them. Options are tantamount in the auto industry, and increasing the ease of the car buying and selling process is possible. People selling their cars in Phoenix should know that we buy all types of cars in Phoenix, AZ which make us better than companies or car lots who focus on a specific make or model of car.

Many people dismiss the last two months of the year when it comes to buying a new car, or even a different car even it that means pre-owned. The holidays and all the small-item gift purchases beckon, property owners face year-end property tax payments, and there is just too much going on to consider a high-end purchase.

That may not be wise thinking, ultimately. For one, the way the car sales market is down today, you just might find a killer deal to buy a car. On the other side, selling a used car today means most likely a strong demand (and therefore good payments), as more and more people are holding onto their used cars longer.

Other wildcards are emerging, such as the end to the lengthy presidential election which – regardless of the outcome – will slowly rebuild certainty to the American economy and eventually should mean more spending by consumers. It might be a great time to sell a used car, for those seeking cash for used cars in general, and those in the market to buy a car.

Much depends on which vehicle you’re trying to sell, who you deal with, and timing. The end of the year, for example, is a perfect time for a parent to buy a used car for a new teen-age driver, the ultimate holiday gift. Those buyers might be prepared to offer top dollar.

Other Factors at Year’s End and Selling Used Cars

Where is the best place to start if you’re selling a used car or seeking quick cash for used cars at the end of the calendar year?

For automotive industry experts, it’s almost a game trying to figure out who will be the biggest winners once the economy turns around and people start buying vehicles in earnest again. For example, a company called wRatings Corporation recently announced results of its annual study of the most competitive auto companies.

The top vehicle company according to a score where 100 is perfect is Harley-Davidson, with a score of 87.2 – the second straight year Harley topped the category. It is followed by Honda at 64.9, Acura at 64.4, Lexus at 61.6 and Subaru at 58.6.

AutoNation took command of the auto retailers division, with an 81.7 score. It was followed by AutoZone at 72.6 and Advance Auto Parts at 71.8. You can see with the gap between the top company and its competitors what this independent competitive research firm thinks of AutoNation and its ability to thrive once the economy gets better.

Scores from the Competitive Strength Index combine how well companies meet consumer expectations, along with a company’s ability to generate economic profit. The quarterly survey is conducted with a representative sample of 25,000 American households across 12 industries.

You can use the results to your advantage, in terms of selling a used car to a company (AutoNation) that appears to be ahead of its competition; or which brands of cars should remain strong through the economic downturn. Selling a used car, it helps when the car you own is a trusted brand.

Selling Used Cars and Timing

Some media outlets are getting the picture in terms of buying a car or selling a used car at the end of the year. For example, U.S. News & World Report in fall 2008 published a report entirely about “The Best Times to Buy a New Car.”

Among the findings:

Buying a car in the fall means dealing with car manufacturers and dealers desperate to move inventory. The economic situation means low foot traffic at dealerships, so the result is strong rebate programs and other incentives on both 2008 and 2009 models.

The end of a model year means you can buy a fairly new car, at a good price.

Holidays and long weekends are good times to buy a car, whether buying a new car or buying a used car. Dealerships expect more customers and offer more incentives, rebates and financing deals.

End of the month means more deals so salespeople can meet quotas. Ditto the very end of the calendar year. Cars.com notes, “Automakers often look to close the year with strong sales as they prepare for January and February – traditionally bleak sales months in the car business.”

Of course, some of these sales tactics hardly apply to selling a used car or getting good cash for used cars. However much of this information can be valuable, as you can see which vehicles might be in demand, and when. Set the right price point for your vehicle, and you might undermine area dealerships and sell a used car rather quickly and for a price you’re happy with.

In buying a new car, the tips offered by U.S. News & World Report appear valid. There is, after all, something to be said about the end of the year or even end of the month in buying a new car.

The task of selling a used car today seems to have gotten easier. New-car sales are in the dump, and car dealerships are more apt to offer better deals than during the harried economic climate at the start of the century.

Add this to the pros if you’re in the market to sell a used car: customer service. Those who buy cars for a living are treating sellers and buyers alike much better.

Reports in the media abound. Said an auto dealership co-owner to the St. Petersburg Times in Florida in early November, 2008: “We know customers are the most important aspect, they are our lifeblood. Our job is to make customers happy, and then they keep coming back. They feel they know us, they trust us. It’s not like an adversarial scenario. They pick out car, and we see what we can do to make a good deal.”

For example, the dealership noted above offers buyers a warranty, a service ticket showing every maintenance action on the car through their shop, and free oil changes for two years. Think about it if you’re selling a used car: would you offer the buyer two years’ worth of free oil changes?

Battling for Customers to Sell a Used Car

The Wall Street Journal reported the same week of the St. Petersburg Times article that the National Automobile Dealers Association estimates 700 new-car dealerships will close this year. That’s up from 430 in 2007, for a 63 percent increase.

The Dealers Association reports that in September 2008 alone, 61 dealers closed, or downsized to a used car lot. That’s two every day that month.

But fewer auto dealerships means more demand for used cars, and if you’re working to sell a used car or get quick cash for used cars, this could work to your advantage.

Those dealerships still must compete against one another, and with fewer out there they will work that much harder. It’s essential to staying alive in this economy.

Selling a used car, this can work to your advantage. At least you’d think. Said a sales executive at a large Los Angeles Dealership to USA Today in late October, 2008: “Business is slower but hasn’t died. The dealers just have to work that much harder to get their customers into a car.”

New Tactics, Cons in Selling a Used Car Today

There is a potential downside in this economy and selling a used car or getting cash for used cars quickly. The same USA Today article quoted an economist at Moody’s Economy.com: “All the problems of the economy are wrapped up in auto sales.” The article noted that remaining car buyers are in no hurry to make a car-buy decision, and are hunting for the best deal.

The USA Today article noted the sentiment of an executive looking to buy a new car: “Even though he wants a new car, he says, he’s determined to get a good deal. So for now, like many potential car buyers, he says he’ll wait on the sidelines.”

In the sell a used car world, that could mean trouble. More time not only means you have to wait for the cash for a used car, but the potential that a buyer could change his or her mind mid-sale.

Are there any other options? Well, certainly, and online. There are companies established with websites that buy used cars, and often offer cash for used cars, and fast.

If indeed timing is most important, to get cash for used cars as fast as possible, it might be wise to tap the Internet and unload that vehicle quickly. Many of the services, such as www.cash4usedcars.com, will even send someone to do a free appraisal, and upon sale agreement you get cash for a used car on the spot.

Now, THAT is customer service!

Has anyone noticed the slew of car placements on television shows this new fall season?

“Knight Rider” returned for the fall, yet this time the talking car KITT is no longer a Pontiac Trans Am as in the original 1980s series. It seems Ford pitched its case strongly, and its Shelby Mustang is now the lead character.

Chrysler secured its new Ram pickup for prominent placement on two shows: Fox-TV’s “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” and on NBC’s program “America’s Toughest Jobs” reality show. The Ram also will be focused in regular advertising during the programs, of course.

And General Motors worked two of its newest cars onto one show, NBC’s new drama “My Own Worst Enemy” – where the program’s main character has two personalities, and hence a need for two different cars.

When he’s a suburban father, he drives the new Traverse crossover; as a secret agent, the character zooms around in the new Camaro sports car scheduled to hit dealerships early in 2009.

When new-car sales are at a 15-year low, and advertising might prove too costly, why not give it a shot? After all, aside from the free advertising aspect, such cars on the small screen can develop into their own characters, or cultural icons.

Product Placement and Selling Used Cars

The thrust, of course, is to boost car sales. If you were selling a used car today, it’s wise to cover multiple angles.

And today, when most households have digital video recorders that allow viewers to skip commercials, you’ve got to get the word out somehow, right?

Plus, most of the time a show will feature a car if you give it to them free. It seems a nominal investment when the vehicle is shown on multiple episodes.

Don’t forget reruns and syndication. How many motorists out there remember General Lee, the bright-orange Dodge Charger from “The Dukes of Hazzard”? And “Starsky and Hutch” made the Ford Torino famous.

So what’s this mean to the Average Joe who might be considering buying a new car, or selling a used car? Probably not much, but it’s too early to tell.

It seems the product placement phenomenon is here to stay, with car-makers finally getting into the loop. Actually, they’ve been involved with television more and more in recent years, particularly in reality shows where an automobile is given away as a prize.

Sell a Used Car Based on Past Brand Recognition

In terms of selling used cars, past roles by cars on popular shows can’t hurt. The Pontiac Trans Am didn’t really get a chance to reprise the KITT role – since the model is no longer in production.

But souped-up used versions are still out there, and buyers no doubt are out there interested in scooping up a “Knight Rider” clone. Well, that is if they can swallow gas costs.

And take Jeep, for example. Its models were featured in so many war-related movies and television shows through the years that it almost exudes “strength.” “MacGyver” from the 1980s drove a Jeep, and use of Jeep Wranglers in the 2005 film “Sahara” kicked up interest in the model, according to officials from Chrysler, which now owns the brand.

Regardless of the new KITT, owners of classic-model Mustangs can benefit in selling a used car by movie-goers’ memory of films like “Bullitt” starring Steve McQueen racing through the streets of San Francisco.

Sometimes it’s not just about a particular model. Any brand, such as Ford with the Shelby Mustang, can reap rewards if public perception of the company improves with some TV exposure. There are some auto executives out there banking on it.

The business of new wheels for cars has become a multi-billion-dollar venture. Motorists more and more are swapping out old stock wheels for something with more style or for a better ride.

If you are starting the process to sell a used car and want to spruce up its look for potential buyers, there are multiple options.

Many car owners go for bigger, rather lavish new wheels for style, and to be different. With so many Toyota Camrys out on the road today, for example, and often the same color, why not make yours stick out from the crowd?

Then there are physical improvements. Bigger wheels and tires help to sell a used car because your vehicle will have enhanced handling. The grip on cornering will be noticeably better for a potential buyer during a test drive. Be sure to talk it up.

The wider the wheel, the more rubber meets the road, so to speak, making turning easier even at higher speeds. There are also tires with short sidewalls, called low-profile tires, which deliver faster and more responsive turning actions.

That considered, as you try to sell a used car and think about new wheels, you have to weigh the cost-benefit ratio.

Cost-Benefit for New Wheels and Selling a Used Car

It’s a no-brainer that the bigger the wheels or tires, the bigger the payment. If you are hard-pressed to get cash for used cars and fast, you most likely don’t have a budget to spend thousands of dollars on new wheels.

What are the costs? For a set of four, anything from $750 on up to $5,000, according to Westways magazine, the publication by the Automobile Club of Southern California.

The bigger the car, the more the new wheels tend to cost. So to sell a used car, your investment in new wheels likely will be larger if you’re selling a truck or sport utility vehicle.

Here is an additional cost that you should keep to yourself to sell a used car: insurance. Adding expensive, custom equipment adds another attraction for thieves, and some insurance companies may require an owner to purchase more coverage.

On the flip side, one could argue that wider wheels means better handling and therefore more ability to avoid dangers and safer driving. An insurance appraiser might not buy it, but it’s something in your toolbox to argue.

Cons Along with Pros to Sell a Used Car with New Wheels

As you sell a used car, understand other drawbacks to new wheels and tires, including potentially lowered fuel economy, a rougher ride (with shorter sidewalls particularly), and the threat for higher-profile vehicles to rollover at high speeds on tight curves.

Remember that automakers engineer their vehicles with original wheels by considering both ride and handling, and they aim for a balance between the two. In switching wheel sizes, talk carefully with an expert to try to ascertain how the change might impact both ride and handling.

Additionally, greatly increasing the diameter and width of your vehicle’s tires could prove chaotic for antilock brakes, speedometer and odometer, and in newer vehicles computer-controlled vehicle systems.

So as you contemplate adding new wheels for your quest to sell a used car, put some thought into it. Check reports online, and talk with your salesperson to try to learn what the change will do to the vehicle’s performance.

That said, new wheels and tires sure can make your used car look sweet. The exterior look of a vehicle plays a major role in selling a used car, and the investment might just prove to be worth it.
