Toyota Corolla
For the past 40 years Toyota has been building the Corolla. Nine generations and 35 million vehicles later, the Corolla is one of the most popular vehicles in the world.
In fact, in 1997 it was voted the best selling car of all time. And the Wikipedia says that a Corolla is sold every 40 seconds.
Manufactured in several locations internationally to meet the world market demand, the Corolla is truly one of the best selling cars ever.
Ford F Series
With gas prices what they are, the popularity of the F Series trucks is almost shocking.
They have been sold for over 50 years and have held the title as ‘Best selling vehicle’ in the U.S. for the past 23 years, earning Ford almost half of their company’s profits.
Interestingly enough the F Series trucks are marketed mainly to North America, and still one of the best sellers ever.
Ford knows their trucks, and ten generations of changes and improvements means that they are always working to make them better.
Volkswagen Golf
Volkswagen has long been a leader in the fuel efficient, compact vehicle department. The Golf isn’t just another car in their lineup, the golf is one of the best selling cars ever.
At 24 million sold, the Golf has actually out sold it’s cousin the beetle, which it replaced.
The Golf has been built since 1974 and gone through five generations, it is Volkswagen’s best selling car and the third best selling car in the world.
Volkswagen Beetle
The Volkswagen Beetle has always been known for it’s signature exhaust noise and affordability. It is also the best selling car in history.
In the 60 years it was in production the original Beetle’s body shape hasn’t changed. There were mechanical changes made, but the rounded shape remained.
In fact over 21 million of the Beetles were made in it’s 60 years of production, many of which still putt down the streets of warmer climates.
The factory in Mexico was the last one to produce the Beetle and the last one rolled off their production line in 2003.
Ford Model T
The second best selling car in the world is a title still held by the Ford Model T. That along with the fact that it was the first assembly made vehicle.
Painted black because it was the color that dried the fastest on the assembly lines, Henry Ford told his customers this: “Any customer can have a car painted in any color that he wants so long as it is black.”
Considering the Model T was the first car produced, it is significant that it is in the top five best selling cars ever. At over 16 million cars sold, it is solid in it’s position and the stuff legends are made of.
